Forgotten Heroes: North Carolina’s Black Patriots of the American Revolution

Uncover the stories of Black North Carolinians who fought for American independence, including those with ties to the Wilmington area. During the American War for Independence, more than 400 Black and multiracial soldiers from North Carolina fought for their young country and state in military roles. As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the country they helped to establish, we invite you to join us onboard the Battleship North Carolina to learn more about their often-forgotten stories.
